Providence Hosts 2025 Special Olympics

On Thursday, February 13th, Providence School was honored to host Special Olympics Florida for our 2nd Annual Field Day. This event united over 100 Special Olympics athletes from three area schools with Providence students of similar ages, for a day of laughter and sports. More than 140 volunteers from Providence’s middle and high school clubs and teams spent the morning playing soccer, kickball, and running the track with the athletes. They also enjoyed lunch and many dance breaks at The Jesus Bus!

This collaboration not only provided a platform for athletes to showcase their abilities but also served as a powerful educational opportunity for Providence students. By engaging in this event, they gained firsthand experience in the importance of including all ability levels. We were pleased to have Providence Alumni athlete & SEC Network personality Patric Young, Class of 2010, make an appearance at the event! He encouraged the Special Olympics athletes and Providence students to keep working hard & persevering when things get challenging. The day was filled with laughter and many new friendships were formed. Thank you to the students and teachers who volunteered their time to welcome our guests. We can’t wait for next year!
